Rubella is a male Skimmia with evergreen foliage and a compact habit. In autumn panicles of deep red buds appear which are held over winter. In spring the buds open to very fragrant pale pink flowers. Skimmias are suitable for borders or are great in pots for winter displays. This shrub is best in full or partial shade in a moist but well drained acid soil or ericaceous compost.
